RAID 5 SATA Benchmark posted - Possible issues - Need opinions
I just built a new server with a HighPoint RocketRaid 1640 SATA Raid Controller.I setup (4) Seagates 200GB SATA drives, in a RAID 5 array, with one drive for parity = 600GB.
I had to update the bios for the card before it would detect them properly.
Now it finally works, however, this is the first SATA RAID-5 setup I've done and I'm curious as to if my results were normal, below average or above average. I'm very dissapointed with the sequential and random write performance.
Any opinions are appreciated. I tried two block sizes so far, 64K and 1024K, both shared similar results.
