SSL Decisions: Thwate 123 vs. QuickSSL vs. RapidSSL?
SSL Decisions: Thwate 123 vs. QuickSSL vs. RapidSSL?
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to decide what kind of SSL cert to go with. I was originally leaning towards RapidSSL, which the Planet has for $15, but they note that price is for a limited time, which made me wonder if perhaps next year I'd end up paying substantially more to renew it.
As such, I was considering QuickSSL ($49 from the Planet) or Thwate SSL123 ($35 from Dotster). Thwate has the added bonus of having a dynamic security seal, it appears, for the price.
Any thoughts on which one would be best? Is there anything that would be a better price or a better value? Something that holds the company name on the certificate rather than just the domain?
Oh, also, assuming I went with something from the Planet, I'd probably renew it there (they are my datacenter), but if I wanted to go elsewhere, it it possible to renew a RapidSSL or QuickSSL cert at another authorized dealer or do you have to go through the one you originally bought it with?
Thanks!
