CNAME problem

I've been using CNAMEs for a few years now, and sort of took it for granted that servers understand how to handle CNAMEs. This past 24 hours I learned different.

For DNS zone aloof.net (using enom nameservers), I have the following defined:

aloof CNAME aloof.net.
servint CNAME servint.com.

http://aloof.aloof.net/ loads CPanel's "There is no website configured at this address." error page instead of the correct http://aloof.net/ . aloof.net is a new VPS account at servint.

http://servint.aloof.net/ correctly loads the servint.com website.

Servint thinks there may be a problem with my DNS (ie, enom), but I think since both aloof.aloof.net and servint.aloof.net use the same enom DNS, then the problem is with my VPS server.

I'm stumped. CNAME problem Anyone have an idea of what could be going on?
