Mod_Rewrite Confusion

I've been playing around with mod_rewrite, but got totally lost. I would like to change:

mysite.com/index.php?section=var1&page=var2

into

mysite.com/var1/var2


I've been playing around with a few rules, but alas they don't seem to work. Any tips?
