ftp brute force attacks :how to prevent it ?
Hello,It seems I have some kevin kiddies trying to brute force mys ftp server.
What makes me say that ? approx 100 mo of logfile of an inexistent user trying to log in

So here are my questions :
-Is theree a way I can blacklist an ip after let's say 15 bad login attemps ?
-Any idea to avoid this kinf of thing ?
-After 8 hours of this attack, my server crashed, it has a message log of 108 mo ans ftp auth.log of 68 mo. Do you think so big logfiles can crash a server ?
Info :
hardware : dual P3, 1 go ram, raid 5 array
software : DA standart setup : apache 1.3.33, proftpd, red hat 9
Thanks for any help.
