Wich kernel for CentOS 3.3

hello,
wich is the latest stable kernel for CentOS 3.3
Currenly i have the 2.4.21-27.0.1.EL and as i still have some iowait problems with high server load i would like to update teh kernel.
the update has be done to vers. 2.6.10 however this blocks completaly the server and i had to go back to the 2.4.27 vers.
So what is the newest stable kernel vers. for centOS?
