Hello, I'm going to get another server soon but woud like a bit of advice first. I'm not a server expert, more like a programming person so my knowledge of hardware is very limited. This server should do only serving of php files, so no email or mysql or images or any stuff, all of that would go to other excisting servers. It would be for only one site, but its pretty big and has 800-1000 active users at peak times. (active=meaning a registered user that visited any page the past 10 minutes). So this new server should be able to run all apache/php requests for this, while connecting to other servers for mysql data and images.
If I stay with my current host I have these options :
1) Intel Celeron 2.8 GHz 2) Intel Pentium 2.8 GHz (about 10% more expensive then #1) 3) Intel Pentium 3.2 GHz (about 45% more expensive then #1)
So the questions are : Is Pentium better then Celeron for this or not ? And is that difference of 0.4 GHz worth the extra cost ?
While I'm typing this I guess #2 might be the best quailty/cost choice, but some advice is welcome ofcourse.
