Help! Opened strange e-mail, now everything is slow
I got an e-mail from "Tory Shearer" at kuikubaol@bssg.com. The subject line was: Review melody breadwinner account (or something like that)It did not appear to be a bulk mail, it was delivered to my inbox with the non-bulk mail. It did not have an attachment. I have disabled all "imagery" that is supposed to be insecure bad, as far as I know.
The body of the e-mail was blank.
Since then, things have been slow on my computer and some websites won't load.
I have all the usual security stuff, quite a bit. It's updated.
I checked the latest virus definitions at Norton and none resemble this. I checked extensively online for the address and subject line and found really nothing of value.
The bssg.com belongs to a company that purchases rubber for Bridgestone in Singapore and a company called Business Support Services Group (or something like that) in the United States. I can't find any info that these companies spam people or are not legitimate, although I wonder about the second company. I can't find Kuikubaol or Tory Shearer associated with either company.
I have all the usual programs to detect bad stuff. Did I get virus from a e-mail that isn't bulk, (probably) had no attachment (that I can see) and is not supposed to have the bad imagery (I believe) and is not associated with any known viruses?
Could this just be an IP problem? Think it began a few days ago, probably when the oscar nominations were announced. Is this because I have cable internet?
If it is an known virus or trojan, how do I find it now? I want it found.
