Server Restart
I was just wondering..When I first got my server, I attempted to install CVS, and then restarted, but the server didn't come back up. The technicians at the data center said it was stuck at a login prompt, so I had to have linux reinstalled, and I lost all the stuff on the server (but it wasn't a big deal because I had just gotten the server). When it was back up I had someone else install CVS (someone who knows what they're doing in linux) and it worked fine. However, I haven't restarted the server since, which has been 77 days. Now I am a bit worried that if it requires a restart, it might not come back up and may require a reinstall, thus a loss of data (which at this point would be bad..). So my question is.. do you think it is possible/likely that if/when I restart the server there will be a problem? And also, if I do happen to run into a problem at some point, is it possible to reinstall linux without lossing all the data?
Thanks
