email filtering appliance?

Is there an appliance that can be used in a colo environment to filter all incoming/outgoing mail for your servers, that does not cost ridiculous amounts of money + ridiculous amounts for yearly renewals etc?

What I am talking about is an appliance such as Barracuda .. but something with AV as well.

Is there no good, but affordable appliance of this sort out there?
