Good websites/groups to verify my server security?
I just got my dedicated server 3 days ago (unmanaged) and have never touched linux before then, lol. I have read a lot and learned a lot in the last few days and today I updated my php, mysql, apache, ssh, denied access to the /shm and so forth. I've added a firewall and set ip rules and various other security features.
I'm pretty comfortable with linux and and must say that it really is an excellent OS compared to windows once you start understanding how it works. Unfortunately I don't feel "at home" with the os yet so I know there are things I'm bound to have left out.
What I really need, although I might get yelled at for this, is for an experiences hacker to actually try to hack my server in a non-malicious way just to see if I've covered my butt or if there are still security holes that need patching.
Now if this person were to take out my plesk for example, I'd be screwed since I have no knowledge of how that is installed or works or how to reinstall it
I just need someone to see if they can get access and then tell me so I can fix it....
Any sites or groups out there that can help me with this and test my server that you know of?
If it's safe to list my IP I'll post it but the DNS hasn't resolved yet so I'm not sure if that's a security issue or not right now.
