Server load Please help

OK, I keep having my mysql on my server go offline and back on as well as my server crashing and coming back up.. This has only happened a couple times in the last couple days.

My site has been in the media alot lately.. Can someone tell me why this is happening? Is it because of so many people hitting the site..

I keep getting emails saying that apaceh, spam and others has failed and trying to restart automatically..

I know my server load hits the roof and stays in the red.. but is there a way to tell if is is people coming to the site or some other reason?

I pulled these from the server a sec ago after it straighted back out.

ANY help would be appreciated.. just need to know what to do
