Safemode, PHPexecsu, etc on Shared Server.
I know this issue has been asked many times, but due to other posts being extremely large and information scattered i'am starting a new post.
I've been wanting to set up phpsuexec and safemode on my server for awhile but heard of too many scripts issues. Currently my billing software doesn't support phpsuexec but i believe the next version upgrade will.
Basically I run a Cpanel+RHE server, and was wondering if anyone can provide some information on the following basic questions: (Looking for responses that pertain to a shared hosting environment)
1. advantage/disadvantage of having registrer globals on/off
2. advantage/disadvantage of having phpsuexec on/off
3. advantage/disadvantage of having safemode on/off
4. If you have a server full with accounts, what would be the best steps to take in enabling any of the above with minimum issues. Or would it be best to only enable the above with a new server that has no accounts on it?
If anyone can advise on this matter in more depth, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm just trying to get an idea on how to best secure the server, without having problems with users scripts.
