apache 1.3.33 and php 4.3.10

damn ... i am trying to get php 4.3.10 to work with apache 1.3.33 and it doesn't ...
how do i install it ? i get no error , just a message saying :

The Apache service is starting.
The Apache service could not be started.

The service did not report an error.
