TroubleShooting MySQL...
Hey Guys,I'm not too experienced with MySQL inregards to installing and running. I can use it once it's running, but getting it running seems to always never like me.
I run FreeBSD 5.3. I installed MySQL via ports (mysql40-server & mysql40-client). I want to use 4.0 vs 4.1 (or 5.0?) as "Zpanel" says that it only works w/ 4.0 and I wanna give it a shot. This is my personal home server.
So I installed it and no errors. Now, I type this:
mysqld_safe --user=mysql &
and I get this:
localhost# Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /var/db/mysql
STOPPING server from pid file /var/db/mysql/localhost.pid
050228 14:19:00 mysqld ended
Any ideas how to get MySQL Running? Or are there steps you guys can recommend I follow to proper cleanout any old mysql files, reinstall it using ports, and get it running? MySQL *NEVER* works for me on the first try. I can install apache, php, webmin, cpanel, you name it.. but MySQL. Never.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Rob
