Well I am a newbie to running my own server and I am having this reoccuring problem that won't stop. I have an old Compaq Presario running as the server. It has Windows 2000 server with IIS5.0 on it. I also have php and mysql installed on it for running some forums. There are around 200 users per day not exceeding 10 at the same time. The problem I am having right now is that once in a while, right now every few hours when I go visit my site from another computer it says it cannot find the server. Well then I go onto the server, check and says everything is fine. Once I stop the website, and start it again everythign works fine again. I can go to another computer and look at the site again. This is happening to all the users. The strange thing is that once I crashed it and had to reinstall everythign from a backup, well after the reinstall the problem went away for about a week and now it has shown itself again and is worse then before. Every 5 hours or so this happens and I manually have to restart the site in ISS. The computer is on a network behind a router with Zone Alarm installed on it. The IP address is dynamic but by the use of zoneedit and another direct update I can make it so the DNS site always knows the ip address. Does anyone know how to stop this problem?
