CentOS 3.4 Wont install properly (Tried 3 times)

Hello,

I have a Dell PowerEdge 750 server 800mhz bus, 512 ram with 80 GB SATA HDD about 3 months old.

I am trying to install CentOS 3.4 on it along with cpanel and nothing is working out for me. I am going crazy trying to install them. First time I installed CentOS and then when trying to install cPanel, it gave me a Kernal panic. Second time when I installed it again. cpanel installed but then the services wouldnt work. Then I installed Fedora Core 2 then it wouldnt work either. Then I installed CentOS 3.4 again with cpanel and this time it is not working again. i cant get the httpd to work to get the server going. I dont know what I am doing wrong. This is exactly what I do.

I restart the server with CentOS 3.4 cd in it. Then I choose the geographical loations and etc. then I partition the HDD according to these specs:

80 GB Hard Drive - approx 8 GB used for OS
--------------------------------------------------------
/ 001 GB
/boot 075 MB
/home remaining [ approx. 50 - 55 GB ]
/tmp 001 GB
/swap 001 GB
/usr 009 GB
/var 005 GB
/x 500 MB [ this will be for Server Admin use ]

for the /swap I make it a swap and for others they are ext3

Then at the bottom, i choose minimal install. And then I finish the installation. I restart the server and install cpanel as Follows:

mkdir /home/cpins
cd /home/cpins
wget http://layer1.cpanel.net/latest
sh latest

Then it runs and after a while it asks some questions about SpamAssasin. It asks to put an email or a url for info if a customer wants info I entered my email and then the installation went on.

I restart the server and try to configure it via https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:2087 but nothing works.

If I did anything wrong in the above procedure, please tell me cuz im a novice in this and i spent past 2 days trying to do this and it just wont work.

Thanks for your help
