SSL cert quesions please, example given:

I have a basic question I'm hoping someone can clear up. Imagine a server that is set up rather straightforward with cPanel shared hosting and Modernbill. The server has an SSL cert that it owns to use with modernbill (ie it's https pages and possibly the connection to the cc gateway?). The host also wants to offer a shared SSL to prospective clients to use with low-end web commerce. Can this be the same SSL cert?

If not, I would think that the SSL for the site that is shared could be a "name brand" one (since it needs wide recognition) but couldn't the one used for the "internal" modernbill part be a generic one that is cheaper?

Finally, is the SSL cert of a different type if one is offering it up to be shared? I know tha the cert is probably technically the same but does it need to be a different "class" ie more expensive for it to qualify to be shared?

Sorry, I have setup SSL certs before but only as an end user on one commerce site.
