Router randomly dropping packets

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this, but I'll post it here and see what comes upRouter randomly dropping packets
For the record, this is NOT a "server" router, more like a personal router. One that I just picked up. Since it's my first, well, I'm having an (albeit minor) problem with it.

The router is a linksys RT31P2 . I picked it up the other day to setup VOIP rather than pay rather large fees for telephone usage (voip is about 1/2 the cost).

Up until the time I picked this router up, I had no problems whatsoever, everything worked rather perfectly. Because I run a text based game among other things, I tend to hang out on the game and just hide when I'm sleeping. The problem is that the router is disconnecting me from the game after 5-15 minutes of inactivity. This isn't just the game, but it's ssh sessions, to any server, it's anything that doesn't get data for that random period of time.

I'm just wondering if anyone's seen anything like this and knows how to get around it? Kind of frustrating to be in the game, talking, then have to go out and work on something, come back to the game to find it's idled out, and disconnected me.
