[HTTPD] problem please help :(

Hello ,
Thanks for everyone whose trying to help me and give me a little bit of information i would like in my subject to ask a question about httpd i think im getting DDOS on it the problem is the Connections of httpd going from 0 to 172
root@host3 [~]# ps -aux |grep httpd | wc -l
172
root@host3 [~]#

and then no site can be browsed !!! if it done it will be too too slowly the best fix i can do is
killall -9 httpd and then service httpd restart but the problem come again and again i try to rebuild apache but not fixed so please help me [HTTPD] problem please help :(
