Running DNS servers ( how-to ) ???
Hello,For the number of years I have been running servers I always allowed another company to manage the DNS records so it wouldn't have me spend the load of min 2 IP addresses and 2 servers processing the requests.
But then recently I was thinking of setting up the DNS on my own location for redenancy just in case the company fails, my own DNS servers will take over and limit the downtime.
My question is how to set it up properly.
I have the Server running the DNS software properly already and I know how to set up the record pointing.
but then how would I let the internet know that ns1.galacnet.com is a DNS server and that ns1.galacnet.com resolves to a specific IP?
Do I use the DNS service of my current provider? But if I do then wouldn't it be strange? because if they go down the A records woudl not stream anymore....
A little confused.
Thanks for the help and advice
