Learning Linux / Recompiling Kernal
To start, im going to purchase a cheap computer (AMD Sempron 3000+ 2.0GHz) and install CentOS 3.4 (the 64-bit build of course). I want to put up a server (which i already know how to do, quite well) and then im going to make a cron job to start it automatically on crash (because i dont know how to do that) and do some other stuff to jumpstart this learning process. After that, i would like to begain learning how to recompile my Kernal.
The main point of this post is to ask anyone if they had a great step-by-step guide to recompiling your kernal, or knew a great resource that would help. Any other recommendations are greatly apprecaited.
