hard drive failing?
Got an alert from smartd running on my FC3 server tonight. Then I found this in the logs:Jun 16 04:12:49 server smartd[2688]: Device: /dev/hda, FAILED SMART self-check. BACK UP DATA NOW!
Jun 16 04:12:49 server smartd[2688]: Sending warning via mail to root@localhost.localdomain ...
Jun 16 04:12:49 server smartd[2688]: Warning via mail to root@localhost.localdomain: successful
The output of "smartctl -H /dev/hda" says:
=== START OF READ SMART DATA SECTION ===
SMART overall-health self-assessment test result: FAILED!
Drive failure expected in less than 24 hours. SAVE ALL DATA.
Failed Attributes:
ID# ATTRIBUTE_NAME FLAG VALUE WORST THRESH TYPE UPDATED WHEN_FAILED RAW_VALUE

HOWEVER, when I call my provider, they said "backup your data and keep an eye on the drive. It might be ok." I already backed up my data but I'm not too excited about sitting around waiting for this drive to fail. Is it not pretty clear that it is dying? Are they right that it could survive, or is my instinct right: it is on its way out and should be replaced NOW?
