strange redhat 9 memory problem

Hi,

I have a server installed redhat 9. The hardware is, Dell 1550 Dual P3 1.2, 2GB of ram, 3x36 SCSI on Megaraid 5. The BIOS reports all these hardware correctly. But, when I boot the machine with redhat 9 (which is already installed a while ago, now in the production mode), it reports the memory of the server is 256 Megabyte. But there is four 512MB memories installed to the memory banks in to server. I have taken another 512MB memory from another dell server (same model) and installed in this one, and I only used one 512MB memory, but the result was same, which is the system still reported 256MB memory installed.

Has anyone seen a problem like this before ?
