Kernel 2.6 causes my server to hang on reboot!
I recently built a new 1u server using a desktop mother board and processor. Server specs are AMD ATHLON +2800 1gig of ram and a 80gig SATA 150 hard drive. For some odd reason the server will not reboot with out the keyboard using kernel 2.6. I tested it with Centos 4.1 and Centos 3.5 with kernel 2.6.10.When I compiled kernel 2.6 I copied the old config and added grsec then compiled it, no other changes were made. It never makes it to the bootloader the last thing it says is (says the same thing for Centos 4.1 and Centos 3.5 with kernel 2.6.10)
Please stand by while rebooting the system
md: stopping all md devices
md: md0 switched to read-only mode
Synchronizing SCSI cache for disk sda
Restarting system
Then it never goes to the bootloader, it just says Restarting system untill you turn the server off.
With kernel 2.4 the server reboots with out the keyboard with no problem. Anyone have any Idea what might be causing this problem?
P.S. I am using the stock kernel on Centos 4.1
