Best way to shift. Is this correct ?
I am shifting from a VPS to a dedicated. Now i have created a plan according to which my users (i think) will have a 0 downtime. So here's my plan. Let me know if its technically correct or not ?
1. I have existing domain with 2 name server ips got with VPS. Lets say they are ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com
2. Now with the new dedi i get 2 nameservers as usual. So i have to update the IP address in the domain management. But till the IP's get changed worldwide my server will either show old or new. But at some places its going to be instant.
3. I am going to just update the IP of ns1.mydomain.com. This way if someone visits his/her site so technically it will be checked for ns1...and if it fails it will check for ns2.
4. So whereever ns1 is getting updatd people will see new site on dedi else they will see ns2 on old VPS. Am i correct ?
So in real customers will not know a thing, am i correct ? Becuase they will always see a site weather they see old or new. And eventually they will start getting the new one.
Am i correct ?
