Setting partition on Linux, need advise
Hi Guys,I have the following system.
Dell PowerEdge 1850 with the following conf.
Dual Xeon Processor 3.0 mhz
2 gig of ram,
146 gig of SCSI harddisk X 2 raid 1 using hardware raid
the rest of the information, I don't think might be important.
I'm installing Redhat Linux Enterprise 4 ES.
When I come to the partition portion, I'm a bit confuse,
currently I set as follow:-
/ - 1024 mb
/boot - 100 mb
swap - 4000 mb (why must i set so high swap files?
/usr - 10,000 mb
/tmp - 512 mb
/var - 512 mb
/home - whatever the balance
Is this a good setting or anyone can share with me their recommendation.
on the swap, does it mean that if I have 6 gig of ram, i need to set aside 12 gig of harddisk space just for swap?? that is huge man.
thanks in advane guys.
