Server crash problem, memtest86 intermittent failure
I have one of my front end web servers failing, usually a few times a month with a nasty kernel crash (linux). Its no big problem, traffic is rerouted, but i did pay for it and i do need the extra processing power to handle the load at peak hours. Right now i need to go to the location and press the restart button, which is quite annoying.
I did run memtest86 once over a few hours and it failed the test once. Is this grounds for saying the memory is faulty and should be returned to the store? I'm going in again tomorrow to reboot that sucker and i'm planning to run memtest again for a few days instead. Is there any way to tell from memtest output which module is broken, if any?
I should add that i have many servers with exactly the same hardware layout as this server, but they are working nicely, never crashed so far.
