Beware of Mod_Security
Recently i started facing some problem in my sites. I couldnt have noticed that because I dont get time to surf my sites daily.. and there are millions of pages also.
So.. one good user of my site complained about it that Search on my sites are giving problem.. it is giving 406 error.. and i started cheking it.. and i got shocked that because of this error my google rating got disturbed so much and google had put thousands of pages of my sites under "suplimental result" .. it was a shock for me.. then i started reading my log and found that eveywhere there is 406 error.. whereveer i used .htaccess rewrite things.. I stsrted searching google for this problem.. some of them were telling to mopdify httpd.conf file and some of them were telling to upgrade Apache.. but nothing helped.. and suddenly i noticed somewhere on net that Mod_security gives erro when you upload images or anything and i startined reading error log of my mod security.. and then.... i found that all these error to googlebot and every browser.. is being given by Mod_security..
I uninstalled mod_security and now everything is working fine.. but i have lost so much because of this Security Module.. i oost my ratings on google which were generating very good revenue for me.. and now it wil take time again to get my site crawled by google again..
I am posting this messege just because if anyone facing this problem.. should remove modsecurity..
specially if you are using .htaccess to clean your url.. you must not use mod_security..
