same HD for 2 years
I've a server with a lot of I/O (more than 200 sites hosted)... and this HD is running for 2 years
SMART doesn't show anything wrong...
do you think I should trust SMART or change this HD?
of course I have backups, but that's what I estimate:
time to change data from one HD to other, with the main HD (the one with kernel) working: around 6 hours
(since the databases are on other HD, I think I won't have many problems with the updates that happened while the move happened... just if new files were sent/changed, but it isn't very common...)
also, there's almost no downtime (just for reboots)
now, if there's a problem with my main HD, the time to install/test a new system, configure everything, restore data and so on... I estimate around 2 hours of downtime and 6~8 hours moving data (the last sites to be moved will have longer downtime then... up to 10 hours)
so by this point of view I think it would be interesting to change... but maybe I'm being paranoid?
