VIRGIN experience with MX records.
I setup a new server, which is in another country, and they are VERY afraid of spammers, I got grilled so many times about how much trouble I'd get in, so I have thoughts in my head.I think maybe my host/DC blocked all email to and from my server, either that, or the mail is broken.
I tried sending an email out using a php script (mail() is enabled), and it said sent, no errors displayed, I never recieved it to where it was sent. I tried sending an email to it from my outside email account, and it was never recieved on the place I sent it.
So I believe my host MAY have disabled me from sending mail, or blocked it off some how?
FIRST: Is there a way I can check for sure, I asked him but he didn't reply, I don't want to press the issue really, I said I did not really need to send much mail at all, so maybe he turned it off, but I would like to RECIEVE mail.
Second, and the more important one, how can I setup MX records or have it so mail comes to ANOTHER cpanel server, and it processes there? MX records are like DNS records right? It routes the email to an IP address.
After I edit the DNS entry in cpanel for this BROKEN email domain, and point it to my other server (where mail works), what do I have to setup on THE WORKING server so I can forward the mail to my yahoo account?
Right now on my "broken email" server, I edited /etc/valiases/domain.com and made CATCH ALL go to my yahoo email address, but that did not work.
Any bright Ideas? I'm going to pursue the DC further, but I'm wondering if it's something simple I can check and not have to "ask" the DC about mail, because like I said, they are VERY sensitive about it, and I knew about that before I signed up so I am fine with it, just trying to figure out how I can RECIEVE the email for the domains on the server.
Cheers.
