Maximum Users per Server (Opteron 244)

Hello Everyone,

I've done a little bit more math, and have figured out that I would be advantaged by putting my own server in colo rather than buying a dedicated server.

With that in mind, I've selected what I believe to be a nice hosting system from Sun Microsystems. Will be an excellent rackmount solution, and easy to move when I eventually buy my own storefront to keep my servers in.

Sun Fire V20z Server
1 AMD Opteron Model 244 Processor
1-GB Memory
2 73-GB 10000 RPM Ultra320 SCSI Disk Drive (Added one)
1 CD-ROM/Floppy Drive
2 10/100/1000 Ethernet Ports
1 USB Port
1 Serial Port
$2,490 (Just under my budget)

Basically, I'm going to stick with those, and run either RedHat Enterprise Linux, or Fedora Core on the servers, with cPanel. My question is, can I comfortably fit 150 users on each server? Say each user was an average load user. I want to make sure I won't have problems with things like that in the future, heh. I *can* always add another processor in the future, but I think a single opteron should handle the load.

I really don't want to oversell, as I'll be profitable enough per server like this, heh.

Thanks,
-BarbedHost

PS: I'll have a 100mbit unmetered port per server at the datacenter. If I were to offer 1GB space and unmetered bandwidth for $4.99/mo, how fast do you suppose I would expand? Or would I be better off with higher prices when I start offering that?
