[linux] disable usb support to stop suspend to state 3

My dedicated server provider said its a bug in 2.6 kernel and that I should disable usb...
Question for You is how to disable usb in linux. I did some googling and I know I have to edit some kernel config files, but I want to ask first here, so I dont get total system crash with next reboot. So if anyone knows exact procedure, please post it here (what to edit, where, what to change etc)
