Serious DNS problems: Our customers can't reach our server
We have a server in the US. Our customers are from Brazil. In the office we are able to connect to all web sites hosted on the server, but a fair amount of our customers are not able to reach the web sites from time to time. After a long investigation we found out that these customers are connected through DHCP to the national Brazilian ISP which has old DNS servers. Changing the DNS servers on the computers of the customers to the same DNS servers as ours solves the problem, but we just can't go to every customer and change their DNS servers manually. Our web sites are the only one they can't access. Web sites like Google, Yahoo, etc.. are accessible using the bad DNS servers.
Our web hosting supplier in Florida said that they can change our server to another one, with another IP address, but I'm reluctant because I have no guarantee that this is going to solve the problem. How can I know that the bad DNS servers commonly used in Brazil are going to list the new IP address, if the one we use isn't listed? There is a fair amount of web sites on this server. What would you do?
Thanks,
Charles.
