ftp account problem

i have a hosting package, using cpanel

i have tried to create another ftp account for a friend so he can upload to my server without using my account, so he doesn't have access to my files.

i went to ftp manager, created an account with a user and password,
the domain name is
brotherstilldeath.com
but when i try to login with the newly created account.

f1uploader@brotherstilldeath.com
with the correct user and password, i get an error saying
"Authentication failed, sorry "
i've tried various combo's with the host but nothing works, please help!
