registered name servers?
Ok, I've been running my own servers at work for some time. DNS, mail, etc etcI have a subdomain of Michigan State University so all my traffic going through them. They replicate my DNS for me and all is well.
So with my server experience I thought I would get a VPS and try to setup a multi-domain server with virtual hosts in apache and virtual domains for postfix. All seems to be going well except I purchased a second domain form godaddy and I couldn't get them to take any of my DNS servers.
I host DNS on the vps and they wouldn't take that. I then had my work servers (the .msu.edu ones) run slave entries for my domain. Godaddy is saying that they can't use the DNS servers I run at work because they are not registered. So what's this about? How do you get your name servers registered? Is there any way for me to run my own DNS here or am I going to end up having to setup no-ip.com or something to run slaves off my DNS and use no-ip as my DNS entries for godaddy?
I don't see why godaddy can't use my DNS servers at work as the DNS entries to hand out to requests for mydomain.com.
Thanks for any tips on this.
