corrupted passwords on pop3
I've got a Windows Server 2003 Web Edition machine with the POP3 email service running on it. It's the service that comes standard with the OS. The passwords for each account seem to get corrupted every month or two. For example, someone came to me this morning saying her password wasn't working. I logged onto the server, reset her password and it worked fine after that. This was the second time this happened to her. Afterwards, I tested my own email on the same domain and my password wasn't working either. I reset my password and it worked fine. I found this problem occuring with more than just one domain name on the same machine.Has the standard pop3 service on a Windows Server 2003 Web Edition been known to do this? What else might be causing this to happen?
In case you need to know, the domain name we were having trouble with this morning is lexingtonmarketing.ca, but again I stress this problem has occurred with other domain names. Also, we're using MS Outlook, and when the password doesn't work, it gives the error message:
There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your User Name or
Password was rejected. Server Response: '-ERR Logon Failure'. (Account:
'mail.lexingtonmarketing.ca', POP3 Server:
'mail.lexingtonmarketing.ca', Error Number: 0x800ccc92).
