Offshore Issues

Apologies if I'm in the wrong forum here, but I think my question is as much about internet security as anything else - so here goes (mods feel free to boot me over somewhere else if I'm off base)

I have a client who is setting up a technical/legal advisory firm, where technicians in India will be handling a number of files.

Information collected will require security, as they will involve privacy info and e-commerce.

He will be travelling to India shortly and asked me to advise him as to what he should be asking, from a technical point-of-view, to his prospective associates there.

I believe we need to use a dedicated server, and take whatever precautions we can to secure it/ create backups, etc.

Server-side, we will be handling it. But my question is a little broader: are there any client-side considerations that we need to look for - ISP of prospective associates; in-house security protocol of workstations; etc.?

I appreciate that there's a very strong tech industry in India. Just wondering what some good questions to ask might be.

Any thoughts here are most welcome. I'm at the scratching-my-head stage Offshore Issues
