How secure is password-protecting a directory?

I've setup a wiki on one of my sites which I want to keep secure.

So I've password protected the directory (using cpanel 10). And also the URL to the wiki is not 'advertised' anywhere.

How secure is this setup?

I'd just like to know as I'm considering putting sensitive information (well sensitive in my opinion) on the wiki.
