I know that web bugs can be used to give website statstics. Here's my situation: my website is hosted in China. I'm not one of those evil spammers, I live here, my site is directed at local users, so I need the speed - host it overseas, and speed drops to 4k/s and all my users complain. My host absolutely sucks - the control panel is a joke, no statstics, no nothing. I don't even get email boxes. However, it is blindingly fast, and that's what's important. I asked the company for a control panel with stats, and they told me to put a counter on the front page. Yeah.
My question is, is there a company or service out there that will give me an awstats-type or webalizer-type report, using web bugs? I'm most interested in referers, since I don't know where my traffic is coming from. I just have the one counter, and that's it. I tried putting Google ads on my pages, and you do get stats of a sort, but since the Google servers are overseas, linking to them slowed down my performance and I got complaints again.
