Memory (RAM) question. Do I really need 2 gigs of ram?
I currently have a dedciated Dual Opteron 242 with 2 gigs ram on Windows 2003 Standard.
Im just running some flash/java software on the server now. Everything is fine but my question is whether or not I really need that extra gig of ram?
I look under the Task Manager window and I see under "Physical Memory" the following totals.
Total Physical Memory (K) 2095500
Available 1104500
System Cache 969053
Those numbers are approximate and fluctuate a little here and there as the server is being used.
Does this mean that 1 gig of ram is enough for my needs? If I have a server with only 1 gig of ram, given my current set up, will I see any performance loss or differences?
I hope this is enough info for you guys to give me an answer. If you want me to look at some other things or need more info please let me know.
