Sef-signed certs OPENSSL help :)

hi guys, im new to this so was hoping if i can get some expert advice,

basically im a reseller, i manged to ssh into the server via cpanel. i created the private key, and certificate file .crt as self-signed using this guide

anyway its for my subdomain.mydomain.com ... i went into cpanel, upload the .key and .crt files generated a csr and should work right?

well when i go to https://subdomain.mydomain.com doesnt work... i trty https://www.mydomain.com still doenst work
any ideas what is going on even though i have created and upload .key, .crt, generated a csr and created my subdomain?
