Two CPUs VS one CPU
I have been wondering : all those servers (ibm, dell, compaq, hp) you can find on ebay for 150-300 $, with dual P3-500 or dual P3-600, or with a little more money dual P3-1000 ... are they any good?
What about those 4 X CPU servers?
What is the difference between one, two or 4 cpus?
Let me put it like this:
assume we have a server with one p3-1000 cpu, and the exact same server with 2 X P3-1000 cpus. What % difference whould you estimate there is? WHY? (oups, this is getting difficult).
What about a server with 1 Xeon at 500 Mhz and the exact same server with 4 X Xeon 500.
Is there still field for these servers to work?
Are these good servers for someone to get started (maybe experiment for a while etc).
