Linux: Problem with Users-Groups-Privileges
Hi,I am experiencing a problem I can't figure out after a week of searches, so I hope someone will be more inspired than I...
I am no longer able to connect to my FTP / Mail and SSH servers except as root (I guess it has something to do with authentications). All the other users are said to be unknown (without more explanation in the logs). It looks like the FTP/Mail/SSH processes are no longer able to access the list of users or something like that.
However, I can still access the list of users/groups (add/remove/modify) without problems. I verified and re-verified, all users and groups are correct, and I also verified the access privileges to folders and files are set correctly.
I also compared to my two other servers, and everything seems to look the same.
Processes such as Apache, MySQL, etc... are running fine, and have access to their respective folders and data.
This occurred just after trying to install SquirrelMail. (I checked the SquirrelMail site too)
The operating system is RedHat 9.
Thanks in advance for your help,
