CentOS 4.2 x cPanel
Last week we performed an inbox upgrade from RH9 to CentOS 4.2. This upgrade was run by a professional on upgrades like this.
However, since the upgrade server load has been extremely high during the day (when services are used by most users) and goes back to normal at night.
The guy who run the upgrade mentioned the latest secure kernel for CentOS 4.2 had problems with some servers and very high load (a bug), that could be resolved with a kernel source compile.
The problem is: he mentioned it AFTER the upgrade was done and unfortunately he just disapeared so we couln't have the kernel compile done (although he said he'd do it) or have more info on this.
When load is high (sometimes over 40), stopping cPanel seems to solve the problem for some time, so maybe it's just a CentOS 4.2/cPanel conflict.
Has anyone seen something like this, or have more info on this mentioned kernel bug?
