FTP and Domains.. Help!.. :(
In need of a lil bit of advice/support.
I use one primary domain e.g. dave.com to access the whole root of my dedicated server, i also use FTP via e.g. ftp://dave.com. Recently a family member wanted to host their site on my server which i allowed, i created a new folder in the root and it can be accessed via e.g. dave.com/family/ and can be accessed from a domain he has purchased e.g family.com which is pointed to dave.com/family/
The way he currently accesses FTP is through the IE browser if he enters ftp://dave.com and enters the username/password i set up which directs him to his relvent folder. Although i would prefer him to access his assigned FTP folder through his own domain say via ftp://family.com although when trying to access this in the IE browser it cant connect to my FTP server (Cerberus FTP Server). Although on the live log of Cerberus it shows it trying to connect.
So how would i make it that accessing ftp://friend.com would connect him to the FTP server?.. I read up on Apache Virtual Hosts and i like the idea of what that can offer but does that support/do this FTP "feature" i want?..
Please help its confusing me too much..
