Add one more drive to RAID 5 without rebuilding. Possible?
I just got a new Dell server with CERC 1.5/6 SATA controller. I'm planning to start with RAID-5 on 3-4 drives, and add additional drives as needed. I have never used RAID controller before so I'm not sure if it's possible for me to do that without rebuilding the entire array. (I would hate to do OS reinstall every time I add additional drives.
Is it possible for me to do that? Or do I have to wipe out and start over every time additional drive is added.
