Just had to block an NSA server....
Fartin around my server today blocking badly behaving bots and what not, I came across this IP 144.51.73.129, with a lot of open connections to port 80, my web server. It wasn't hammering it enough to generate a load issue, but piqued my interest none_the_less due to the number of connections. So I do a whois on the IP, lo_and_behold, it belongs to the National Computer Security Center in Fort Meade Maryland.... A division of the NSA
Naturally I added the IP to my block list, this is for one of 2 reasons:
1) If it's an attack (not likely) on my server, it's probably a spoofed address.
2) If it's a NSA pleeb spankin off on the internet, I want him to get back to work protecting the country (by monitoring my phone calls
)I doubt the NSA would have any interest in the content of my server, and if they did they probably would not leave a trail right back to their door, it just struck me as odd to see. Anyone else with a similar experience?
