InMotion Hosting reinvents referrals with real-time tracking, real rewards

InMotion hosting has rolled out a new version of its Refer-a-Friend program that finally gives users what they’ve long needed: full visibility, real rewards, and no more guesswork. The company removed vague incentives and replaced them with something straightforward. Now, customers earn a $50 prepaid Visa card when a friend signs up and keeps a qualifying plan active for 90 days.

The new system gives users real-time access to referral activity. They can see when someone clicks their link, completes registration, and qualifies for a reward. This visibility removes the confusion that often surrounds traditional referral programs. Automated email updates notify participants at each step, reducing the need for support or follow-ups.

Customers enroll through the Account Management Panel. Once signed up, they receive a unique referral link to share through email, text, or social platforms. The process then handles itself automatically.

Carrie Smaha, Senior Manager of Marketing Operations, said the redesign aimed to respect the customer’s time and effort. “People shouldn’t be left in the dark after sharing a service they trust,” she said. “This update gives them control and clarity.”

Large enterprises use the same platform that powers the new program, but InMotion continues to focus on individual users. By prioritizing transparency and usability, the company moves away from the outdated model of credit-based rewards and untracked referrals.
