Inside DNSimple’s mission to simplify DNS, strengthen web hosting businesses

At‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ CloudFest USA 2025, Anthony Eden, Founder and CEO of DNSimple, described the way his company is the core of web infrastructure for a large part of the web but at the same time, a small hosting provider can easily be competitive in an industry full of big players.

DNSimple was created by Anthony Eden and his team in 2010 with the goal of making DNS and domain registration easier, more automated, and more ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌reliable. As Eden explained, “We’ve been in business since 2010. We’re a very focused provider with DNS and domain registration at the center of what we do.” The company’s integrations also include automated SSL certificates through Let’s Encrypt, offering what Eden described as a dependable backbone for engineers seeking efficiency.

When asked why web hosting companies should pay attention to DNSimple, Eden highlighted the challenge of scale and accessibility. Many small and mid-sized providers, he noted, struggle to match the integration capabilities of major competitors. “With something like ours, you can integrate with our API and resell domains and DNS service directly to your customers under your brand,” he said. “Nobody even needs to know we exist.”

Eden emphasized that the company’s global DNS network supports more than 550 domain extensions, including recently added highly-regulated options such as .bank and .insurance. While most users focus on popular extensions like .com, .io, or .ai, DNSimple’s reach continues to expand.

While talking about pricing and integration, Eden opened up the company’s willingness to adapt as its main ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌characteristic. He said DNSimple’s pricing structure depends on usage and volume, allowing customers to pay per zone and query rather than a flat rate. On the integration front, he acknowledged that the company is exploring partnerships with hosting control panels such as cPanel, DirectAdmin or Enhance, based on market demand.

Eden concluded with an open invitation for collaboration. “So if you reach out to anthony@dnsimple.com and you’re in the hosting industry and say, Hey, I’d love to talk to you and tell you about some of the challenges we’re having, you’ll be talking directly to the CEO, and this will influence our roadmap,” he said.

As DNSimple continues to expand its automation-driven model, its focus remains steady: empowering hosts of every size to operate with the same precision as the largest industry players.
